About the Neighborhood

This centrally located neighborhood in Queens has quite the history. Officially established in 1906 by Brooklyn attorney and Queensboro bridge developer, Cord Meyer, Forest Hills began as a farmland purchase consisting of 600 acres of land. The beautiful and exclusive, Forest Hill Gardens, was founded in 1909 by Margaret Sage and was modeled after the garden communities of England. As a result, Forest Hills is abundant with Tudor-style homes.

If you enjoy outdoor activities there are two beautiful parks nearby. Flushing Meadows Park is home of the famous Unisphere and then there is Forest Park which offers everything from walking, biking and horse trails to a golf course and athletic fields. The U.S. Open was also held in Forest Hills until 1978 making it a mecca for tennis aficionados. There is no shortage of shopping and dining either, just head over to Austin Street for your shopping needs or Metropolitan Avenue if you’re looking for a variety of delicious dining options.
