Meet Cobby Walters: A state-hopping sweetheart who loves video games, making people smile and choosing happiness.
Originally attracted to Dixon because of its culture, Cobby Walters started her adventure in the Dixon family part-time and instantly fell in love with every facet of the company. Now, Cobby works full-time as Dixon’s Human Resources Assistant. In this role, she aids in recruitment and hiring processes, provides administrative support for employee healthcare and 401k benefits, continuously bolsters the culture of the company and much more. “I’ve always wanted to work with people, but it wasn’t until I got older that I realized HR was my calling.” She continued, “Walking through the door every morning is my favorite part of the job. Every person I pass gives me a smile and gets me ready for the day.”
Something people may not know about this loyal and loving lady is, “My ability to understand things on a deeper level. People often underestimate me because I’m goofy and smiley, but that’s because I choose to be. The hardest lesson I ever had to learn was that happiness is a choice.” She continued, “People often think I can’t be serious. But, but I can; I just do it with a smile on my face.” During a two-week mission trip to Honduras and Nicaragua at the age of 17, Cobby helped build schools and serve food in soup kitchens while living with the locals. “That’s actually where I learned that happiness is something we choose. Those kids had nothing, yet they still had the biggest smiles on their faces.”
Cobby finished by gushing about Dixon’s best quality, “Perseverance. The fact that they pinpointed a market, had a business plan, came out here to do it and are still doing it… it’s amazing. It’s such a collaborative environment where each person is valued. It’s run with heart.”
