A Week In: Jersey City Heights

One of the greatest things about Jersey City Heights — and there are many — is its immediate proximity to Hoboken and Jersey City, and the entertainment and dining options that abound in both.

Whether its food truck hunting in Hoboken or family fun at the Liberty Science Center, life in The Heights puts you at the center of the best of Hudson County, every day of the week. Here’s a rundown of some of the great places to spend your week in and around The Heights.

Tuesday: Lobster Shindig at Hamilton Inn

Lobster Shindig at Hamilton Inn — 708 Jersey Ave, Jersey City

While Hamilton Inn has been named one of the best brunch spots in the country, their weekly Lobster Shindig is too good to ignore. Every Tuesday night, bib yourself up for one hefty lobster for just $21, or two for $38. Wash it down with half-priced pitchers of New Jersey Beer Co.’s LBIPA for $12.50.

Wednesday: Dark Side of the Moo

Follow the Food Truck for Dark Side of the Moo — 52 Bowers Street, Jersey City and various locations

Boasting what is perhaps Hudson County's most adventurous menu, the legendary Dark Side of the Moo serves up bison, yak, elk, camel and even kangaroo burgers. Visit their newly remodeled and re-opened brick-and-mortar location in The Heights on Bowers, or run down their food truck. You can find its daily location on Facebook.

Thursday: Liberty Science Center

Prehistoric Playtime at Liberty Science Center — 222 Jersey City Boulevard, Jersey City

Put your future paleontologist to work on Thursdays at the Liberty Science Center. Kids ages 2-5 (and their adults) get a weekly chance to excavate dinosaurs and other prehistoric creatures from wax. Then, they can put their fossils together and learn to identify different species. This dino-rific time is surely worth a trip down the hill.

Friday: Renato's Pizza Master

Master the Pizza at Renato's Pizza Master — 278 Central Avenue, Jersey City

With great daily specials and amazing pizza, every day is a good day to visit Renato's Pizza Master in The Heights. We chose Friday — the full bar and specialty cocktails might have had something to do with it. Grab a pie and head to your couch or dine-in to enjoy a huge menu of Italian delights. Don't forget the cannoli!

Sunday: Brunch at Corkscrew

Brunch at Corkscrew — 61 Congress, Jersey City

Sundays are brunch days, and at Corkscrew you can find a great selection of reasonably priced brunch fare alongside their standard full bar. From chicken wings to eggs Florentine to the Brunch Cubano — a Cuban sandwich on an English muffin — there's something for everyone at this lively mainstay in The Heights.
